RAN Software Development Engineer

Job Summary

Salient Global Technologies CORP has an opening for the position of RAN Software Development Engineer which requires at least a U.S. Masters in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or a related field and two years of experience in LTE and 5G Networks and strong understanding of UE, RADIO, CORE innerworkings and their design and operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Involve in designing, development and deploying Deep Packet Inspection APIs on network devices by interpreting technical and business requirements.

  • Design LTE/5G/6G end to end call flow from Radio to core network, provide protocol parameter templates provide unit test cases, and api documentation.

  • Create high level diagrams and test plans.

  • Execute end-to-end test plans, collect data, perform technical and business analysis.

  • Prepare and present executive summaries to senior management.

  • Responsible for acting as a domain expert for RAN Call Flows, UE protocol stack and work with other developers who will interface with internal IT and other Front-End Applications.

  • Install and configure various products from Cisco, Ciena, Nokia, Samsung, Ericsson in lab, test, pre-prod environment.

  • Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for protocol layers (e.g., RRC, MAC, PDCP, RLC, SDAP).

  • Analyze and troubleshoot issues related to signaling and user-plane protocols.

  • Understand debugging requirements and design needs for various baseband chips.

  • Write and Implement debug harness for baseband chips buy studying technical data sheets.

  • Design and Implement instrumentation to capture baseband traffic during testing.

  • Process captured data for further analysis using tools such as QXDM, Channel Emulator, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, and AI tools.

  • Understand carrier frequency spectrum and select various Radios for testing and validation from OEMs.

  • Configure radios with various engineering parameters such as RF slicing, power, frequency, bandwidth, modulation. etc., as per project needs.

  • Validate conformity and compliance specifications of the radios under test by collecting, analyzing test data.

  • Design and implement software to collect I/Q RF stream data for post-mortem analysis

  • Performing RF path loss calculations, system predictions, and modeling.

  • Capture commercial core network architecture for lab implementation.

  • Design call flow model and implement core network elements as per test requirements to validate Radios and UEs.

  • Design and implement packet capture test harness for the core network.

  • Develop applications using Python, C, Shell, Go Programming languages.

  • Implement and utilize CI/CD for Redhat Openshift and Openstack.

  • Work with various source control and version control tools like Jira, Confluence and GIT.

  • Create high level diagrams, presentations and documents using office suite of products

Job Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Related Field

  • 2 Years of relevant work experience
